Free Kundli Matching (Guna Milan)

Kundli Matching (Guna Milan) is the traditional Vedic way of checking marriage compatibility between two people. It scores the match out of 36 points across eight kootas — from mental wavelength to health, temperament and progeny.

ShivAstro runs the full Ashtakoota Guna Milan for free. Enter both birth details and get the total Gun score, a clear verdict, the eight-koota breakdown and dosha checks (Nadi and Bhakoot) — the same factors a family astrologer reviews.

How the 36 points work

The eight kootas — Varna (1), Vashya (2), Tara (3), Yoni (4), Graha Maitri (5), Gana (6), Bhakoot (7) and Nadi (8) — add up to 36. A score of 18 or above is traditionally considered acceptable, 25+ is very good, and Nadi (8 points) carries the most weight for health and progeny.

Doshas the match checks

Nadi Dosha (both partners in the same Nadi) and Bhakoot Dosha (an unfavourable Moon-sign distance) are flagged, along with whether they are cancelled. These are guidance points, never a final verdict on a relationship.

Beyond the number

A high Gun score is a good sign, but a complete reading also weighs the 7th house, Venus, Mars (Manglik status) and the running Dashas of both charts. Use the score as a strong starting point, not the whole story.

Frequently Asked Questions

What Gun score is good for marriage?

18 out of 36 and above is traditionally acceptable; 25 and above is considered an excellent match. Below 18 is usually reviewed more carefully.

What is Nadi Dosha?

Nadi Dosha occurs when both partners share the same Nadi (out of three). It carries 8 of the 36 points and relates to health and progeny, but several classical rules can cancel it.

Do I need both birth times?

Yes, both people's date, time and place of birth give the most accurate match, since the Moon's Nakshatra drives most of the scoring.
