The 27 Nakshatras

Vedic astrology divides the zodiac into 27 lunar mansions — Nakshatras — each with its own ruling planet, deity and personality signature. Your Moon's Nakshatra at birth is a deeper marker of who you are than your Sun sign. Tap any Nakshatra below for its full meaning, or find your own free.

What each Nakshatra tells you

Every Nakshatra is a 13°20' slice of the sky, each with its own ruling planet (one of the 9 grahas, cycled through), a presiding deity from Vedic myth, a symbol, and a Gana — Deva (divine), Manushya (human) or Rakshasa (fierce) — that describes its underlying temperament. Your birth Moon's Nakshatra sets your Janma Nakshatra, the anchor point for your Vimshottari Dasha timeline and a finer-grained personality read than your Moon sign alone.
