Who runs ShivAstro

ShivAstro (https://shivastro.vercel.app) is a free Vedic and Western astrology tool — birth charts, Kundli, Guna Milan matching, AI palm and face reading — built and run by Shivam Sharma, an individual proprietor operating out of India. There is no separate company entity; Shivam is the person legally responsible for the data practices described on this page, and the one you'd reach through the contact channel below.

What ShivAstro actually asks for

Casting a Vedic or Western birth chart needs four things from you: name, date of birth, time of birth, and place of birth. Nothing else is required to generate a Kundli, Navamsa chart, Vimshottari Dasha timeline, or Ashtakavarga reading — no email, no account, no OTP.

The Chinese astrology / BaZi tool uses birth date, time and coordinates to calculate a report on our server without sending those details to an AI provider or saving them in the purchase database. No name, account or payment is required. Choosing "Save birth details" stores the input only in this browser; restoring it sends the input again to recalculate the reading. You can delete that saved input from the tool. Downloads remain on your device.

Photos are sent to Groq for a reading. ShivAstro does not save photo bytes in its server database. Brief visual observations may be cached for up to ten minutes to avoid repeating image processing when you upgrade or retry. For paid-report recovery, the pending photo is saved in this browser until successful delivery; a hash binds the purchased photo to its order. Clearing browser storage removes the local copy.

If you open the "Ask the AI Astrologer" chat or use "Go Deeper" on any section of your chart, your typed questions and the relevant chart data are forwarded to Groq (our AI inference provider) purely to generate that one response.

Booking a paid Astrologer Consultation, buying a Premium PDF report, or paying for a Palm/Face Reading additionally requires a phone number, so the order can be matched to a real payment and, for consultations, so our astrologer can reach you on WhatsApp.

Where your data actually lives

Paid orders, contact details, consultation questions, generation progress and completed reports are stored server-side in Redis to support recovery and fulfillment. Premium PDF purchases also save their birth-chart data and source reading before checkout so an interrupted report can be recovered on another device with its private recovery code. These records remain stored until removed through a verified deletion request, subject to payment-record obligations. Free chart calculations are not saved in this purchase ledger.

If you click "Save chart," that data is written to localStorage inside your own browser only; ShivAstro's servers never see it again unless you revisit and it's read back from your device. The same is true of your AI-chat conversation history — it lives in your browser, not on a server we control.

Payments — handled entirely by Cashfree

Payment instruments are entered in Cashfree checkout, not collected by our report API. ShivAstro stores the product, price, currency, order ID, contact details and verified payment/delivery status. Payment and report delivery are tracked separately.

Optional accounts, family profiles and journals

Creating an account stores your username, salted password hash, hashed recovery code and session records in Redis. Sessions expire after 14 days. Profiles and journal entries you save are stored server-side for cross-device access until you delete them. They are private to your account but are not end-to-end encrypted. Only save another person's birth details with their permission. Journal entries are not sent to the AI reading provider. Signed-in purchases can be linked to your report library; guest orders can be linked later with their private recovery codes. Account recovery codes grant control of the account and must be kept private. Contact support for verified account deletion; payment records may need to be retained separately.

Personal calendars and Muhurat results are calculated without sending them to an AI provider. Calendar files and share images are downloaded to your device; sending them to another app is your choice. Share images exclude birth date, time and place; including a name is optional. Calendar reminders are handled by the calendar app into which you import a file, not by ShivAstro notification messages.

Service providers

• Groq — runs the AI models behind chart interpretation, the AI astrologer chat, and palm/face reading analysis.
• Cashfree Payments — the only party that touches your payment instrument.
• Vercel — hosts the application and serves every page you're reading right now.

Google AdSense may load advertising resources on public information pages and use cookies or device information subject to its policies and applicable consent choices. The main reading workspace and private report pages do not load AdSense or Vercel Analytics. Aggregate server counters measure reading starts, completed free readings, checkout orders, confirmed payments and delivered reports without adding birth details, photos or report text to analytics. Paid-report failure alerts contain an order ID and product, not your photo, reading or private recovery code. Redis (Upstash) stores purchase records and counters; Resend sends receipts and owner notifications. OpenStreetMap/Nominatim provides location lookup. Providers have their own privacy and retention practices.

Reading Studio stores prepared reports and account-linked orders for recovery. Report questions send your question and selected passages to our AI provider and save the answer in your account. A human-review purchase shares the selected source report and question with the assigned reviewer. Gift recipients' profiles and reports are not shared with purchasers. These records are access-controlled, not end-to-end encrypted.

Optional digests require explicit consent and email confirmation. We store the email address, chosen profile, frequency and consent timestamp. Resend delivers the messages. Unsubscribe through email preferences or the link in each digest; an email already in transit may still arrive. Private studio and email-preference pages do not load advertising or analytics scripts. Contact support for account-data removal requests.

Consultation bookings, specifically

Consultation questions and contact details are saved with the order before checkout. Verified bookings enter the owner-visible queue; a Resend notification is attempted when configured. WhatsApp only receives a message if you send it.

When you choose a published appointment slot, its time and your order ID are stored for scheduling. Only one paid order can reserve a slot. Booking and self-service rescheduling require 24 hours' notice; contact support for cancellations or changes closer to the appointment. Paying for a consultation does not by itself confirm an appointment time.

Asking us to delete something

Closing a tab does not clear localStorage. Charts, chat history and recovery information persist on this device until removed. Clearing site data deletes local recovery codes; keep a private copy first. For server-held reports, questions or order details, contact us with your order ID through Contact Us. We verify ownership before accessing or deleting records.

Grievance contact (IT Rules, 2021)

In accordance with Rule 5(9) of the Information Technology (Intermediary Guidelines and Digital Media Ethics Code) Rules, 2021, the Grievance Officer for ShivAstro is Shivam Sharma, reachable through the form on the Contact Us page. Complaints are acknowledged within 24 hours and resolved within 15 days, as the Rules require.

If this policy changes

Astrology features on this site get added and reworked often (Palm and Face Reading, for instance, didn't exist at launch). When a change actually affects what data is collected or how it's used, the "Last updated" date at the top of this page moves and the relevant section above is rewritten — not just re-dated.
